Episode 13 - tagline competition

Blogs mentioned this time round:

  • WoollyWormhead - marvel at the pictures of the hats coming in her new book. Can’t wait for it to come out.
  • Turvid - Take a look at her 12 pairs from Sokker 2007 and admire the last pair called “Sodera”.

The winners of the competition are Turvid and Heather (night_crickett) - Congratulations! The next competition is to come up with a tagline/byline for this podcast. My initial suggestion last week of “It’s not craftypod but I like it” is your benchmark. It needs to be something pithy and concise and the winner will be used throughout 2008. The prize is 500g of Debbie Bliss Maya in a lovely red. (Photo coming once I find my camera…curse it.)

Knitted Christmas Tree Decos

  • Craftypod.com links to Adorn’s blog.
  • Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Knitters Almanac (available from socktopus.co.uk)
  • Celestine by Norah Gaughgan on Ravelry
  • Search for ‘decorations’ ravelry and then look at the projects tagged with this (should be around 70)
  • Mini socks as christmas tree decos - perhaps from Cat Bourdhi’s new sock book

Lille - christmas markets and knitting shops will be coming on my blog soon.

Don’t forget to enter the competition and to let me know if there is anything you think should be featured on the next show. Also get in touch if you’d like to sponsor the next episode!

Dearest Lixie, Perhaps you can help. I meant to rate your site with 5 stars, but Podbean took it away as soon as I clicked on 1 star. I live in Monterey, California, USA and my Mac (very new with large flat screen) garbles your current (#13) podcast no matter which form I select(popup or download). It will play correctly in iTUNES. Is PodMEANIE needing more meds? Have enjoyed your podcasts immensely. Regarding the stashometer, it apparently has the opposite effect of that intended. Having estimated a stash of 25 years (by weight), I have since purchased at least a dozen skeins of sock yarn. Is there any hope for me? Am susan93940 on Ravelry and I have stashed.

Am knitting on socks furiously because it is cold here and I can’t keep them washed up fast enough.

Dearest Lixie, Here are tagline offerings apparently not used by other knit podcasters, bloggers and in public domain:

    1. brash stash and merry mutter 2. tink tank 3. sing a song of sixpence, a pocket full of … stash 4. purls, picots and perspectives 5. nestle your needles, English style 6. chit, chaffer, chattiest 7. English elixir of knitting 8. English edge of knitting 9. Tangles and ‘tude from England 10.Expandatory glory of stash 11. tink and talk 12. string bingo 13. up against the wool

Perhaps I might win a kind word for volume of submissions for tagline? One thing I could not check is whether any of these phrases are rude in various other English dialects.

My tagline suggestion: Life on a High-Fiber Diet (or should it be fibre?)

  6. turvid Says:

    Oh - I won, I’m so excited!

I still have to think about the tagline…

Thank you for the (big) shout out. I’m forever a fan!

Hi Lixie, thanks for keeping us supplied with your reliably funny and informative podcast - keep up the good work! But while I’m here, a plea about volume! I often listen to your podcast while walking to work - although some parts of the journey are on quiet footpaths, others involve lots of traffic, and I can’t get the volume high enough for your gentle tones to compete with the roar and snarl of the London roads! I am going to fiddle with Itunes to see if there’s anything I can do about it, but if you could bump it up a bit it would be great! I’m no techie and the least I have to do relating to software, the better! thanks Helena

  9. Susan Lowell Says:

“For the love of the loop”

  10. turvid Says:

The stitch markers arrived safely and they are absolutely beautiful.

    Thank you so much!
